The sharply styled 2020 Cadillac CT4 is an entry-level sedan that attempts to combine a luxury experience with enthusiastic performance. The all-new CT4 essentially replaces the outgoing Cadillac ATS, but the CT4 continues to ride on the same basic underpinnings as the ATS.

The CT4 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels courtesy of an eight-speed automatic transmission. On the Premium Luxury version, it makes 309 horsepower and 348 lb-ft from a 2.7-liter turbo four, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. For those wanting more power, the CT4-V gets 325 horsepower and 380 lb-ft from the 2.7-liter engine and also uses the 10-speed automatic. That output is significantly less than the outgoing ATS-V, which makes 464 horsepower and 445 lb-ft. The CT4-V also gets a limited-slip rear differential, Brembo front brakes with four-piston calipers, and 18-inch wheels with summer-only performance tires.

All-wheel drive is optional on all CT4 models. We'll provide our impressions of its ride and handling once we drive one, but we expect both to be excellent based on how balanced the ATS was.

Inside the CT4, Cadillac wisely switches to more user-friendly controls versus the largely touch-sensitive interface found on the ATS. Although the interior design and the quality of the materials appear attractive but unremarkable, the CT4 will feature Cadillac's cutting-edge technology.

We'll have a better idea once we get some seat time in one. New electrical architecture will allow the sedan to receive over-the-air updates à la Tesla. Cadillac's semi-autonomous Super Cruise will also be available. There is a slew of standard and optional high-tech features that run the gamut from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability to automated emergency braking and lane-keeping assist. We will continue to update this page as we learn more about the all-new CT4.
